Round Table Discussion

All speakers and the audience

We leave the mike open to a very experienced and vivid panel to a free debate on everything Mac related.

And we hope that everybody else will take part of the discussion too. Because we have a very experienced and vivid audience too!

9.00 - 10.15

Bash your Macs for an Easier Life

Andrina Kelly - Magpies Consulting

Bash scripting, Apple Remote Desktop and Services can all help you get your job as a System Administrator done more quickly, easily and reliably.

We'll look at the benefits of centralizing your script repository - when it works, and when it doesn't, as well as touch on why you should document what you're working on well - even if you're the only Sys Admin in the company.

We'll also look at how to build some simple tools for your end users using the power of bash scripting without the fear factor of a Terminal window opening on their computer by taking advantage of a touch of Automator and the Services menu.

10.45 - 12.00

Advanced Troubleshooting Tools and Techniques

Arek Dreyer - Dreyer Network Consultants

Arek will show you how you can use tools such as fs_usage, Wireshark, and Instruments (dtrace) to identify, isolate, and resolve some complicated problems.

After watching his explanations and demonstrations, you will be able to take the techniques home, practice them, and become a troubleshooting expert.

12.00 - 13.30
